During Sunday’s EXTREME RULES Pay-Per-View, Kurt Angle accounted that Brock Lesnar needed to appear on the July 16, 2018 episode of Raw to set up a match for SummerSlam or else Brock would forfeit the WWE Universal Championship. Brock wasn’t there, but Paul Heyman was, and he did agree to have Brock face anyone of Kurt Angle’s choosing.
Kurt set up two triple threat matches with the winners going on to have a number one contender’s match on next week’s Raw.
The two matches featured some of WWE’s hottest talent.
- Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre
- Elias vs. Seth Rollins vs. Bobby Lashley
This could have been a real star making moment. Drew McIntyre was red hot coming off his interference it the main event of EXTREME RULES. As soon as I saw the matches, I was figuring we would get McIntyre vs Rollins. But unfortunately, WWE decided to go in a much safer, more tried and true direction.
Roman Reigns won his match; and later in the night, Bobby Lashley won his match. This sets up a match with Bobby Lashley vs Roman Reigns for Raw next week to decide who gets to take on Brock. A rematch of their match from EXTREME RULES.
So, who do I think will be taking on Reigns? With his MMA background, I think Lashley is the much better choice to take on Brock, but I think the odds are on Roman Reigns getting ANOTHER match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Yawn.
But let’s not count out Braun Strowman. He still has the Money In the Bank Briefcase, and I am thinking before SummerSlam is over, we will get to see Brock Lesnar “GET THESE HANDS!”
Not happy with those odds? Why not give the Roulette Wheel at netbet.co.uk a shot? The odds are better there than surviving an F5 from Brock Lesnar!
