Depp Robbed of 750 million

Celebrity divorces have seldom been as replete with salacious details as has been that of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, with each side throwing accusations ranging from physical abuse to purposeful defecation on the marital bed.

However, testimony on Monday, July 12, went into a reason for one of the altercations, in which Depp claimed that Heard had thrown a "haymaker" at him on her birthday (a reference to which was later captured on one of the many secret recordings Heard made of Depp prior to their divorce).

The swing and the stool (both occurring on the same night) were the capper to what had been, simply put, a "very bad day" for the former 21 JUMP STREET star, who went on to make a career out of killing Tim Burton's wife in several movies. It was his (then) wife's 30th birthday, but the actor was in no mood for celebrating, as he had just found out he had lost a staggering $750 million!

The losses stem from monies Depp had made from Walt Disney Pictures PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequels. According to a statement to the high courts from Depp, “Since Pirates 2 and 3, I had – and this is ludicrous to have to state, it’s quite embarrassing – apparently I had made $650 million."

So what happened to that money? According to Depp, he had just found out that day that his former business partner, who had been handling the funds, had stolen them. “I had not only lost $650 million, stated Depp, "but I was $100 million in the hole because they had not paid the government my taxes for 17 years."

As the public continues to hang on every word of the libel case Depp has filed against The Sun, and expectations of more of the same from the defamation case he has filed against his former wife in the United States, this reporter can't help but wonder how one loses hundreds of millions of dollars and doesn't notice it for almost two decades.

(P.S. Depp sued them and won. But what a great movie that would make.)
