In a move that is one part opportunistic, one part marketing genius and two parts trolling a fan-base, SC Films International announces plans to launch an animated feature and tv series titled:
TROLL: "THE RISE OF HARRY POTTER, JR"
Based upon the 1986 cult film, TROLL, the new animated feature will revisit the world of wizardry in which a wicked, magical troll wizard seeks to take over the world. With the help of a witch, Harry Potter, Jr can save the planet.
Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette, has been signed for the witch and child actor Baxter Bartlett will lend his voice to the young Harry Potter Jr.
Provided he isn't enchanted with a 'Babbling Curse', by a ravenous fanbase who will no doubt be angered when they discover this isn't all about 'you know who'.
John Carl Buechler stated, “The original TROLL film has achieved cult status, and based upon its success we believed that the timing was right to produce an updated 3D animated version for a whole new generation of filmgoers.”
Co-Producer Peter Davy added “We are already in pre-production. We have the financing in place and a strong international distributor. We are envisioning a series of animated sequels along with an aninimated TV series.”
In an attempt to keep Potterheads (fans of the J.K. Rowling novels) at bay, SC Films International also released a disclaimer:
The reprise of “TROLL: The Rise of Harry Potter, Jr.” has not been prepared, approved or licensed by any entity that created or produced the J.K Rowling series of Harry Potter books or the Warner Bros. series of Harry Potter motion pictures. TROLL: the Movie LLC is not affiliated with J.K.Rowling or Warner Bros nor has this motion picture been endorsed or authorized by J.K.Rowling or Warner Bros. The characters “Harry Potter” and “Harry Potter, Jr.” depicted in TROLL are not related to, or inspired by, the book and film characters of J.K.Rowling and Warner Bros.
Somehow I don't think this is going to be enough to keep them at bay. And they're probably already mad at the headline that got them to read this article. I had better stop writing before someone says "Avada Kedavra"...
