YouTube Gaming will Revolutionize the Gamer Eco-System

Today on the official YouTube blog, Google announced that this summer they will launch a gaming channel called: YouTube Gaming.

While it won't exactly be ESPN for video games, it will bring you a 24 hour gaming network right to your phone, tablet or computer. With channels dedicated to your favorite games, your digital desires will be always be at your fingertips. For years now, people have been live streaming the latest sporting events when forced to attend social functions. Now, you'll be able to do the same with the latest video games!

The difference is you don't have to pay a premium to do it.

YouTube Gaming is built to be all about your favorite games and gamers, with more videos than anywhere else. From "Asteroids" to "Zelda," more than 25,000 games will each have their own page, a single place for all the best videos and live streams about that title. You’ll also find channels from a wide array of game publishers and YouTube creators.

So while your buddies are watching Monday Night Football, you can tune in to watch a live stream of Madden '15. According to the blog, they're preparing to launch an improved live experience to broadcast your own game! So instead of just watching...you can turn your game into the star of the show!

Imagine people tuning in to watch YOUR character's story develop on Dragon Age!

As a kid, I hated to wait my turn. Sure, the graphics weren't great, but for me the experience was in playing the game, not watching it. In today's world of advanced processors, graphics cards and high frame rates, watching is no longer a bad thing. You can take a moment to enjoy what's being played without the stress of staying alive or running from the cops.

YouTube Gaming will allow you to sit back with some popcorn and watch players battle it out on Call of Duty just like many of us watch sports. And because gaming channels will be searchable, you can browse tutorials to advance your own gameplay.

YouTube Gaming is available this summer for the U.S. and U.K. and even though Amazon already has their own service, Twitch, I tend to think Google will come out on top here.
