Well, that didn't take long.
As the flap over what is commonly recognized as the Confederate Flag (although it's not) reached a fever pitch, it spilled over into the entertainment industry, making it fair game for us to comment on here at Critical Blast. When TVLand decided to join in the fun by announcing that they were going to pull the reruns of the television series, THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, because of the emblem's pronounced appearance on the roof of their iconic Dodge Charger, the General Lee, it sent several people to the Internet scrambling to get their own copies of DUKES OF HAZZARD on DVD.
Then Warner Brothers added their two cents in, fanning the flames of fandom, by announcing they were no longer going to license the original image of the General Lee for merchandise -- and Walmart was going to quit selling anything with the "rebel flag" featured on it as well.
Which brings me to this morning's saunter through the Walmart toy department, and the image I captured here.
It's the MPC model of the General Lee, complete with DUKES OF HAZZARD logo. But there's something...missing.
Better run to the electronics department and see if we can still find copies of NORTH AND SOUTH -- or any alternate history books by Harry Turtledove. The times, they are a-changing, and history isn't what it used to be.
