Pull or No Pull November 7 2018

No matter how fastidious you are in maintaining your comic shop pull list in your never-ending battle to make sure you don't miss anything good (or accidentally waste your money on something not so much), it never hurts to do a last minute check on what's coming out this week so you can make those fine-tuned adjustments.

Here are our looks at this week's upcoming comics, and our hot takes on whether they're a pick or a pan. Your mileage may vary.

Auntie Agatha's Home for Wayward Rabbits #1 (Image)

Okay, a home for wayward rabbits? Are they bunnies gone bad? What is going to attract me to this?

Oh, well, perhaps it's the return to comics from veteran writer Keith Giffen -- who knows a bit about writing wayward rabbits. (Yes, Mr. Giffen, we remember THE MARCH HARE!) With art from Benjamin Roman, and what looks to be an all-ages bent, We may have to see what Auntie Agatha's is all about.

Adventures of the Super-Sons #4 (DC)

Okay, I was a super-fan of the super-sons in the seventies, when they were the computer-predicted projections of the future offspring of Superman and Batman (okay, that didn't come out right) and the adventures they would have taking up the mantle of their caped fathers. But now that the World's Finest heroes actually have sons, these don't have to be imaginary stories anymore. Peter Tomasi has been weaving some fun out-of-this-world action for Superboy and Robin, with Carlo Barberi and Art Thibert bringing his fever dreams to wonderful life. Catch up on this one, as they duo enter the House of... excuse me, the PLANET of Mystery!

Suicide Squad: Black Files #1 (of 6) (DC)

Gentleman Ghost was always one of my favorite Batman/Hawkman villains. Back then, they always left it up in the air as to whether he was a criminal ghost or just a very clever criminal hoaxing the heroes. So having him join a Suicide Squad is definitely going to get my attention.

Suicide Squad: Black Files seems to be SS's answer to Justice League Dark -- the supernatural side of the villains recruited into service. I have to wonder how Amanda Waller puts brain bombs into someone who doesn't even have a body? I'll just have to pick up this issue and see.

A Very DC Rebirth Holiday Sequel TP (DC)

I was initially very excited about this anthology, and then I saw that it's a collection of reprints -- one of which is the DC HOLIDAY SPECIAL 2017. Hopefully, this trade is just bringing together some older things and there will still be a DC HOLIDAY SPECIAL 2018 with new material. If not, Dan Didio is getting coal in his stocking this year!

Iceman #3 (Marvel)

I have had zero interest in Iceman, either the last series or this current one. But teaming up with Firestar and Spider-Man may just be enough for me to give this issue a try. Sina Grace and Nathan Stockman bring the supervillain mayhem to what's supposed to be a simple blind date for the too-cool X-Man, which is why Iceman needs to have some amazing friends backing him up.
