After having said it so often on THE APPRENTICE and it's spinoff, CELEBRITY APPRENTICE, Donald Trump must find it ironic to hear his trademarked expression thrown back at him. But it's true. The real estate mogul turned Presidential nominee was told to pound sand by NBC after his comments regarding illegal immigration included the words "rapists" and "drug dealers."
The network sent the following message to Talking Points Memo earlier today clarifying their announcement:
At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values.
Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.
To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC .
In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in “The Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC.
“Celebrity Apprentice” is licensed from Mark Burnett's United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue.
After railing against the problems of illegal immigration during his Presidential announcement speech, Spanish language network Univision announced it would not air the Miss USA Pageant. Trump, in turn, banned Univision staff from his Doral golf courses, adjacent to Univision's property, apparently after Univision had already directed its employees to stay off Trump's lawn.
