Sometimes, very rarely, I have my faith restored in the humanity of reality television show producers.

TLC, which has brought us such "learning" opportunities as 19 Kids and Counting, The Little Couple, and Breaking Amish has cancelled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, a spinoff of Toddlers and Tiaras, which focused on the family of child pageant contestant, Alana Thompson, and some over-the-top redneckery and gross-out moments, replete with farts, poop jokes, almost-vomits, and things that make you want to bleach your mind.

The cancellation comes quickly after the news that Thompson's mother, "Mama June" Shannon had found a new beau, after kicking to the curb her not-husband "Sugar Bear" Mike Thompson. However, it wasn't the split that worried TLC so much as it was the new hookup in Shannon's life -- Mark McDaniel, fresh out of prison after serving his sentence for a 2004 conviction of child molestation. McDaniel molested an 8 year old girl. Alana just turned 9. It didn't take much for TLC to do the math.

While Shannon has denied involvement with McDaniel, TLC believes otherwise, and has stopped production, claiming that their only priority is "...supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children." Exactly how TLC is going to do that by walking away from them is unclear.
